Deadlines for New Students

Policy Regarding Application Deadlines for New Students

2015-2016 Academic Year

The office of Student Financial Aid’s published deadlines for new and prospective students to have submitted the 2015-2016 PROFILE and 2015-2016 FAFSA is February 15, 2015. The published deadline for students’ and their parents’ signed 2014 Federal Income Tax Returns and W-2 forms to be received by the College Board IDOC service is March 1, 2015. Scholarships and Grant funds may be limited after this deadline. As a result, students who complete their financial aid application after these published deadlines may find that their financial aid award is weighted more heavily toward need-based loans than need-based scholarships.

If a new student requires a financial aid estimate in order to decide whether to accept an offer of admission, the student or parent should send a request, in writing, to the Student Financial Aid office. The letter should specify, in detail, the circumstances preventing a timely submission of the required documents. The request should include the following

  • A copy of the parents’ 2013 Federal Income Tax Returns and W-2
  • A narrative description of how 2014 income and assets were the same or different from 2013.

This request will be reviewed to determine if there are unusual and extraordinary circumstances beyond the family’s control that prevent a timely completion of the application. If appropriate, an estimate of financial aid will be provided to the family. If not appropriate, the family will be notified.
