All returning students must reapply for need-based financial aid each year by completing the Renewal FAFSA and the CSS PROFILE by March 1, and submitting the required tax documentation by April 1 to College Board’s IDOC service. Wake Forest makes every effort to maintain the same level of financial assistance throughout all four years as long as the family’s financial situation remains relatively unchanged. Please be aware, however, that significant changes in a family’s financial circumstances will result in an adjustment of a student’s award. Furthermore, institutional aid is available for only eight semesters or until the student obtains a bachelor’s degree, whichever comes first. (If you are only applying for federal financial aid funds, then you do not have to complete the CSS Profile.)

The easiest way to complete or correct your FAFSA with accurate tax information is by using the online IRS Data Retrieval Tool found at fafsa.ed.gov. Most tax filers will be able view their tax return information and transfer it directly to the FAFSA. Using IRS Data Retrieval will prevent your having to request an IRS Tax Transcript, to satisfy Federal Verification requirements.
Important Note: You will need to create a federal ID, rather than using a PIN. Follow the instructions outlined in this document to create your ID: Federal ID Procedures
To apply for Wake Forest grant and scholarship assistance, all students, parents, and stepparents must submit signed official copies of 2015 federal income tax forms (including all schedules, W-2 wage statements, partnership tax returns and schedules, and S-corporation tax returns and schedules. (This is required, even if you use IRS Data Retrieval to complete or correct the FAFSA.)
Signed tax documents must be submitted to the College Scholarship Service (CSS) of The College Board via electronic upload or regular mail. You will receive instructions after you have completed the PROFILE application online. If you mail a packet of documents, always attach the IDOC cover sheet sent to you by CSS. Be sure to include your parents’ and your Social Security Numbers on the cover sheet. Failure to do so will significantly delay determination of your eligibility for financial aid.
