2024-25 Academic Year

Continuing students must reapply for need-based financial aid by completing the 2024-25 FAFSA® (for federal aid) and the 2024-25 CSS Profile® (required in addition to the FAFSA® for Wake Forest need-based scholarship funds) after January 1, 2024.

The 2024-25 FAFSA® uses 2022 federal income tax return data.

The U.S. Department of Education’s 2024-25 FAFSA® application is experiencing significant system application access and processing delays. If you are affected by these 2024-25 FAFSA® system issues, please know that your eligibility for aid programs will NOT be reduced if Wake Forest’s receipt of your 2024-25 FAFSA® information is delayed. The U.S. Department of Education started sending small batches of students’ 2024-25 FAFSA® information to colleges starting in mid-March 2024, and it will likely take until late April for the U.S. Department of Education to clear the large backlog of providing students’ 2024-25 FAFSA® information to colleges, and for financial aid software vendors and colleges to load and accurately process students’ 2024-25® FAFSA information.

To inquire about the status of your FAFSA®, call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 800.433.3243, or log in to studentaid.gov using your account username and password (FSAID) and then navigate to the account Dashboard and select “2024-25 FAFSA® Form” from the “My Activity” page. The application status will be one of the following:

Draft: Your section of the FAFSA form is incomplete.

In Progress: You provided your consent, approval, and signature to your section of the FAFSA form, but the FAFSA form has not been submitted yet.

In Review: You have submitted your form and your application is still processing.

Processed: Your application was processed successfully. No further action is needed.

Action Required: Your application requires further action from you or your contributor(s). In some cases, you may need to contact your college or career/trade school to resolve the issue.

Closed: Your FAFSA form was never submitted and can no longer be submitted because the federal FAFSA deadline passed.

Students applying for only federal financial aid should notify the Office of Student Financial Aid and should not submit the CSS Profile®.

Students who submit the 2024-25 CSS Profile® should submit 2022 tax documentation (federal tax return with all schedules and W-2 forms) to the College Board’s IDOC service by March 5, 2024. Submission to IDOC is required even when federal tax information (FTI) was imported to the FAFSA® through Direct Data Exchange with the IRS.

Continuing students with completed applications receive aid notifications before July 1.

Wake Forest makes every effort to maintain a similar level of financial assistance throughout all four years as long as a student’s family’s financial situation remains relatively unchanged. Significant changes in a family’s financial circumstances will result in an adjustment of a student’s award. Factors that can significantly reduce or eliminate aid eligibility include: a decrease in the number of family members simultaneously enrolled as undergraduate students, and increases in family income or assets.
